Hawai'i, Homecoming, & Kuleana
Tapped In Season 3 premieres today. Let's talk intentional travel.
Tune in to Soft Power TV at/after 1pm today for the Season 3 premiere of Tapped In.
Hey Soft Power Universe,
The nucleus team is finally emerging from the magical liminal, including 2 weeks together in Hawai’i this April. Our visit followed a Winter of deep unearthing and a Spring that kicked off with receiving the necessary funding and courage to commit deeper to Soft Power’s organizational vision.
Now that the 5 of us (co-founders
, , , , & ), are able to give Soft Power our “fulltime” focus, there will be a lot to share coming soon. Our time with the Aina (land) brought a lot of depth and clarity to what we’ve been called together to steward and you can expect more media, events, education, and community from us soon.
But first, Tapped In returns today at 1p PT / 3p CT / 4p ET as a weekly stream hosted by Siobhan and Dr. Kiki.
If you haven’t heard our origin story, Kiki and I connected through IG in 2021 and she hired me as her doula! We met monthly from pre-conception through postpartum. During these sessions, I would guide her into “the birth realm” and perform Reiki to assist her in identifying and healing her ancestral inheritances, especially those related to her experience as a transracial adoptee. In this space, we channeled ancestors, spirit babies, birth guides, and past selves. It was mutually transformative and birthed our collaborative relationship as well.
On our second day in Hawai’i, Kiki and I were floating in the Ocean in front of the cottage we were staying and she says to me “this is literally The Birth Realm.” Immediately my body lit up. This was the place we were astrally traveling to all along — alchemizing wounds and refining connection to the inner voice that led us right here. We spent two weeks floating in the turtle pond, looking at the mountains, Rabbit Island, and the Obama’s house (how we ended up neighbors with them, swimming naked on their security cameras, is a story for a future stream).
In addition to listening for where we are being called to serve individually and together, one of the most special aspects of the trip was being guided in ceremony by
, spirit communicator, Care Immersion creator, and 10+ year Oahu resident. She thoughtfully introduced us to the land as well as many Hawaiian terms, including the concept of kuleana, or responsibility to the land and collective.Going to Hawai’i with awareness of how the tourism industry has forced a housing and environmental crisis greatly influenced the way we travelled. When Kiki and I checked in about where to begin with the return of Tapped In, kuleana was top of mind.
I’ll leave the rest of the storytelling for Soft Power TV. Thanks to all who have shared sweet words for the little we’ve shared on IG so far. We are so excited to get back to creating spaces for us all.
Before we sign off, part of our kuleana is to stay connected with Palestine and her people.
If you haven’t been updated in the last few days, please take 5 minutes to sit with the knowing that on Holocaust Remembrance Day, under the slogan of NEVER AGAIN, Israel skirts Hamas’ ceasfire agreement and attacks Rafah, Gaza’s southernmost city which had a population of approx 275k prior to the IDF’s escalation following Oct 7th.
According to UNWRA, 1.4 million people are currently being bombed in Rafah. Half of them children.
We cannot ignore the livestreamed genocide and we also cannot let this colonial-capitalist violence disconnect us from our hope and creativity. To continue to dream and build communities of safety, care, and joy is an act of solidarity with / commitment to indigenous people worldwide.
My prayers as I sit with the sometimes sickening complexities of life on Earth:
May my life be lived as a prayer for collective liberation.
May my daily choices bring me into deeper embodiment of my values.
May I continue to expand my heart’s capacity for grief and love.
On behalf of the SP nucleus team, thank you for being here with us and for staying connected with your soft power.
With care,
Siobhan
