Mistress Mimi (she/her) is a millennial pop priestess who has been summoned to the Altar Ego stage and can be spotted with her modern camcorder in hand (aka her smartphone) to archive her experience on social media amidst ongoing surveillance of the fascist regime.
Awakened by the Spirits of her Chinese-American elders -- the real life & mythical burlesque and mystics of San Francisco Chinatown, her performance at Summer Lovin' is a curse-breaking visibility spell that documents the transformation of her physical home -- her Sanctuary Studio -- into the playpen of her dreams.
What this spell means to me
Growing up within the construct of “girlhood,” I was disconnected from the erotic as something inherent to my nature, when, in reality, it is the vital life force that moves through everything.,
My erotic nature is intimately tied to my idea of home: my body, my first sanctuary, and my connection to my ancestors and personal history. My home, as an external reflection of that sanctuary, connects me to the land and the community, shaping how I relate to the world around me.,
My performance is a spell meant to break the curses of individualistic and heteronormative standards that stifle the expansive possibilities of love in all its forms. It tells the story of rooting myself in my sanctuary (Self, body, and land) and creating beauty for the sake of my own wellbeing without conforming to be palatable to the patriarchal gaze.

The audience will have the ability to tip performers live and participate in our raffle for a chance to win a session with one of our lay leaders. Many of our performers are community care providers in some shape or form and a big intention behind our shows is for our drag artists to be resourced through this process in creative and expansive ways.
Its our church’s calling to imagine and build spaces for queer and trans artists to be visible and make art during times of division and fascism. When its so easy to feel helpless, we must also make room to activate our imaginations and express / transmute rage, sadness, and grief into art.
The community interaction in the chatbox, or as
has dubbed it <the energy bank> is always a party in itself. Also the energetics of contributing live really enhance the power of the spell that’s being woven together.
