Sustaining Sanctuary 💖
Our impact & what it takes to keep our virtual lights on 💡
Hello from the Soft Power Universe!
Founding artist Midori popping in here ✨
Part of my assignment this year is to figure out how to continue to show up sustainably. I know that requires sharing the impact of what we do at Church of Soft Power and simply make the ask for what we need (this is personally something I’m working on)!
As a quick recap: 2025 was the year of grounding into our purpose as a church for and by artists. We held 150+ virtual gatherings, over 275 hours of programming, and platformed over 50 performers on our virtual stage, redirecting $4,700+ to the performers over the course of 4 virtual Altar Ego drag and variety shows. We poured an immense amount of time, effort, and heart into marketing, production, and holding spaces for people to share their stories, majority of them stepping on stage for the very first time. I’m really proud of what was accomplished last year, and to witness the transformation of all those who tapped in to the Soft Power frequency and the aliveness of their creative spirits.
The call this year was to pare it down to the essentials — we are 100% volunteer run and we knew that prioritizing the consistency of our recurring programming what was sustainable for our small & mighty team. We have continued to hold 2-3x spaces every week to connect to our breath, bodies, & intuition - from group meditation, breathwork, embodied dance, expressive arts, writing circles, co-working, member socials, Soft Power TV streams, and knowledge shares. Keeping the calendar running every month, with the support of its Merrick SYZYGY and a core team of facilitators, has been the spiritual home I have needed along with our 60+ members during these times of collective upheaval.
So here’s the ask: to keep our virtual lights on, we are fundraising $125 of recurring monthly donations. This keeps our Zoom Sanctuary open, our booking platform, streaming software, and design software running, so we can continue to pulse out the frequency and keep our commitment to being a playground for creative collective care for our community of artists.
If you have the means and believe in what we do, I encourage you to donate and/or share this fundraiser with your communities! This goal is bite-sized but essential to continue to sustain this work through the rest of the year. Every dollar counts and truly adds up. All donations made are tax deductible, too!⚡️
Fellow founding artist Siobhán Diores has seen our Village in the Sky as the oasis that folks land in when they need it. My dream is that our virtual sanctuary doors are always open for those who need a soft place to land and to know they’re not alone, and to regularly practice, connect and co-regulate together.
Don’t have the funds to contribute monetarily? Here are some other ways to resource Church of Soft Power right now:
