15 artists have taken the virtual stage so far, bravely presenting their live and recorded performances to the Soft Power Universe. In a time where queer and trans siblings are being dehumanized by the most influential people on Earth, creating a stage for our visibility and expression is a sacred calling for the church of Soft Power.

Its our intention for the altar ego stage to be an opportunity for artists to step into the spotlight to be seen, celebrated, and resourced by our community. I mention resourcing because it must be acknowledged that too many people in our communities are under-resourced at this time and circulating some currency in exchange for powerful performance art is just one of the ways we can get artists paid.

Tips and payment aren’t the only way we intend to resource our performers. Many of our performers are also service providers, artists, and organizers who put their creative energy to building a more loving and resourced world every day. We want to shine light on the work all of our artists and leaders do off stage, too.

Since the beginning, the Soft Power co-founders shared a desire to stop doing it all as solo biz owners and were brought together to co-create networks for exchange among values-based community. Aligning our material lives to our values is not a simple or quick task under capitalism. For us, debuting on the stage was an initiation ceremony — a public offering to our loving spirits, declaring our commitment to creativity, connection, care, change, and beyond. What we’ve received, individually and together, spiritually and materially, ever since has felt like proof that this visibility ritual works.

The journey from application to performance night wasn’t without challenge, but it was supported every step. Streaming the depths of my creative soul to people who have only ever seen my regular shmegular facilitator self was vulnerable and I am no pro with drag makeup or editing. But with Tim’s coaching and my cohort of fellow performers, I made it to the finish line and I am so grateful that

incepted this stage for my transformation and anyone else who decides to say yes to our invitation to join.
